Google’s New Order Algorithm

December 18th, 2009

It has been years of discussion by many SEO around the globe that Google is shifting its direction where is no longer rely on PR on the Google serp calculation, some even stated the PR is dead! What does this mean for Google Page Rank which lies at the heart of Google’s search algorithm? And why they should call it (The Heart) of Google sophisticated ranking system on the first place?

Google New Algo

I have been watching closely the Google dance within the last two years , unlike those SEO who believes PR has no value in serp any longer! Saying Google’s Algorithm is shifting its direction leaving the PR alone with (no value)! I should emphasize here that Google has not moving its direction from the Heart of its main base calculation system but rather to changing its strategy base on two important issues which I describe on below.

A) Google has been trying to bring the search result with more relevancy , forcing the big players ( the bloggers ) to follow the new rules of the game , At the new stage , the SEO marketplace people should concentrate of relevancy of the clients sites content while heading to build the high link popularity range for their clients site but not just PR ! That is What I called it (The Google’s New Order), It is going to be very hard for the big players now to focus on relevancy and visibility on one side , while holding to their high value PR on another !

B) Less weight for irrelevant back links. YES! This time there are filtering to remove / weight less to back links which are irrelevant (THATS WHY YOUR SITE ARE LOSING ITS PR ) , but ! does The Google’s New Order effects on serp at the same time ? Yes ! It does , it is not only pulling the PR down but serp is under new process of Algo, at the same time the new Algo is targeting sites paid links, but not all sites which has experienced the drop sell or buy links except big players, (large blog networks) ! Learn and follow me if you want to be there. At the end, Google has just slapped their biggest fans. Yep, but the main question still stands for many: Does Keywords in back link anchor texts and page rank matter anymore?
I should say, Yes! Of course but it depends how much your link relevant is on the view
Of the Google’s New Order!

Advance SEO Tips & Tricks

January 2nd, 2009

Google data centers represent different locations where google is keeping their servers for protecting their system from possible overloading. In others words, a user from Romania will be served by a different server that a user from California, even they type the same url of http://www.google.com !!!How come they do this?! By entering www.any-domain-name.com into your web browser will take you to one IP address. (www.any-domain-name.com representthe domain name, the address of the website , and the IP address, represent the physical adress of a real computer. [Actually every computer on the internet has an IP address, including yours, but not every computer must to have a domain name pointed on it's IP, but this is another story! ] )
How do you see what’s your current google data center?!Very simple! Just click on Start —> Run -> write : “command”(without “” of course ;) and write down ping www.google.com in the black screen that’s appearing. You will be able to see the IP address of yourcurent google data center.
Sweet.
Why should I care about using different Google data centers?!
Some datacenters are updating faster then others, some data centers may contain different results from others, some data centers have “fresh meal” , so Search Engine Optimizers can quickly see more the results of their efforts.
How do I set up my default Google data center?!
Now, you will only edit your HOST file!
In Windows 98 the file resides in C:\Windows\hosts
In Windows XP it is in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\etc\hosts
So if you have Windows XP, go to Start —> Run , and write down this :”notepad C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\etc\hosts ” and press enter!
Okay, now add this lines on the end of HOSTS file:
216.239.53.104 google.com
216.239.53.104 www.google.com
Now go to , Start —> Run , write : “command” (without “” !!!) ,and press enter! write down ping www.google.com and press enter. You will see that the returned IP it’s 216.239.53.104.
You may now delete those 2 lines, and replace them with :
66.102.9.104 google.com
66.102.9.104 www.google.com
Now ping again the www.google.com and see what IP you have.
Now let’s pass in something more advanced, maybe you will want to change the google datacenters 100 times a day , so you may wish to add some virtual domain names , like :
216.239.51.104 result1.google.com
216.239.57.104 result2.google.com
216.239.59.104 result3.google.com
216.239.51.104 www.result1.google.com
216.239.57.104 www.result2.google.com
216.239.59.104 www.result3.google.com
Try to access result1.google.com in your web browser to see about whatI am talking about , and result2.google.com , etc , you may also ping them.
Here is a cool list of Google data centers you may wish to add :
216.239.37.99
216.239.39.104
216.239.51.104
216.239.51.105
216.239.51.147
216.239.53.104
216.239.57.98
216.239.57.99
216.239.57.104
216.239.57.105
216.239.59.99
216.239.59.104
66.102.7.99
66.102.7.104
66.102.7.147
66.102.9.104
66.102.9.99
66.102.11.99
66.102.11.104
66.249.93.99
66.249.93.104
64.233.179.99
64.233.179.104
Just add them one by one, and call them however you want.
For Example :
66.102.9.104 www.google.asiaengine.com /// if you wish so
66.102.9.104 google.asiaengine.com
Feel free to also modify the hosts files for others domain names asweel.
The host file may also help you to access your web server while you didsome DNS chanes (You won’t nead to wait for those 48 hours)
For example, if I changed my www.asiaengine.com to anather hostingprovider, that are hosting my websites on websites on : 209.188.92.116 I will do :
209.188.92.116 www.asiaengine.com
209.188.92.116 www.asiaengine.com

This week I’ve noticed a number of interesting changes in the way Google ranks web pages. The following article is based on my observations and theory rather than fact. Please comment if you have noticed similar issues.

Quite a number of the queries we track have altered recently and websites that previously ranked have dropped down by a number of places. This doesn’t appear to be a penalty - just an alteration in the algorithm.

Algo_Aug

The common characteristic all the sites have is that their rankings were based very heavily on anchor text rather than on-site optimisation. The changes don’t seem to have affected major commercial queries yet but they are visible when you search for particular peoples names.

For example a search for “patrick” used to bring blogstorm.co.uk in 5th place, this week it dropped down to 35th place. The sites above all have better on-site optimisation for that keyword but previously a few good anchor text links was enough for Blogstorm to rank.

Last December I did a study to see how a few SEO bloggers ranked for their own name which gives a good barometer to see how the algorithm has changed since then. Some blogs have moved up and some have moved down but in general the trend is downwards depending on whether you use google.co.uk or .com (there are geographical fluctuations going on as well which affects the results).

Why would Google do this?
Anchor text is the biggest flaw in the Google algorithm. Google wants to show the most relevant and trusted websites at the top of the search results but anchor text has no relation to trust for most queries.

Just because a site has 5 million links with the anchor text “loans” doesn’t mean its a good search result for the query “loans”. Currently there are two types of sites ranking for commercial queries - ones that rank due to the TrustRank of their incoming links (links from newspaper websites and quality blogs) and ones that rank because they have thousands of paid links with keywords in the anchor text.

If I worked at Google then I would discount any links with really competitive keywords in the anchor text - nobody naturally links to a commercial site with “loans” or “car insurance” in the anchor text - they use the sites name instead.

If your site name is mega-cheap-car-insurance.com and all your anchor text is “Mega Cheap Car Insurance” does that mean you should rank higher than somebody like confused.com when a searcher is looking for “cheap car insurance”? I think trust (something which can’t be gamed) should play a much bigger factor than anchor text which until now was by far the biggest loophole in the algorithm.

Algorithm Changes Again !

August 2nd, 2008

Google Operating System point out something interesting in Google’s algorithm recently: a preference in favoring recent content.

The example provided would seem to favor the conclusion; TCP/IP’s anniversary today has resulted in Google preferencing recent posts, including from Digg, over informative articles related to the search term such as Wikipedia who would have normally had the top or near to the top position.

Algo

Indexing recent posts has been a strength for Google, to the point that at least for areas like Blog Search they’ve become the defacto standard as others such as Technorati have struggled to keep up. That Google would preference recent posts in its search results without the usual incoming authority links throws out the rules we’ve always known with Google, and I’m not sure if this is a good thing or bad thing. It would depend a lot on the results, but it would limit attempts to game Google results through incoming links. Perhaps it’s the first step towards Google embracing Web 3.0 with semantic search that learns as it goes, constantly updating its results to suit the user at the time they are searching, complete with contextual awareness as well.
